    What is URL Masking?

    VPS Hosting
    Hello Friends,

URL masking means that the visitors to the domain name will be forwarded to your destination website, however the URL in their browser address bar will remain the same. Also known as Stealth Redirection or URL Hiding, this will ensure that your visitors see the original domain name and not the destination URL.

    Thanks and Regards

Domain masking lets you protect the address of a particular site, while still allowing customers to access the content.
    Here's how it works:
First, you register a domain name, say, domain1.com. This is only an address, though; domain1.com is not going to have its own web site. You use this address to display the content of another web site, say, forwarded-to.com.
So your visitors type in www.domain1.com and see the display from the forwarded-to.com web site. But they do not see the forwarded-to.com address. Some providers like Tucktail.com offer this as a free service along with their domain registration.

Link masking is about covering up a link so that it looks like another link. There are a few reasons you may want to mask your links:

    1. To cover up an affiliate link – Some people resist clicking on your affiliate links simply because they know you’re about to make money off them.
    2. To shorten or beautify a link – Some long URLs are a pain to copy and paste anywhere else online, and a greater pain to dictate over the telephone.
    3. To track clicks and stats – Link masking is often used with a reporting software (like LinkTrackr) that helps you keep track of who clicked on your links and where the clicks are coming from

There are numerous ways to mask a URL — meaning the URL in the browser's address bar is not the actual URL to the content.
The example code in this article assumes the actual content being published is at the same domain as the URL in the browser's address bar. With extra coding, and excepting the Apache rewrite method, the content can come from other domains.
