You can directly contact to the owner of the site where you got broken link and also can use the google disavow tool.

How to fix a broken link?

    Hello Friends,

If you have a website, I'm sure you’ve put a lot of hard work and long hours into making it a valuable resource for your visitors.

The best way to fix a broken link is to redirect the webpage. 301 redirect is the most efficient and Search Engine Friendly method for webpage redirection. It's not that hard to implement and it should preserve your search engine rankings for that particular page. If you have to change file names or move pages around, it's the safest option. The code "301" is interpreted as "moved permanently".

From my point of view the way to fix broken link is to redirect the webpage to the relevant page or home by using the 301.
